Here’s how:

1. Focus

I really do not need to devote more resources to purchase new items just to create this modern look. With simple design, easy to come up with a modern design living room.

For example, you can use lighting accessories such as vanity strips and ornament lights. These indicators will serve as accent lighting and will emphasize or draw attention to your furniture, even if they are brand new. The idea is to blend modern lighting and not so modern furniture and to show what modern living room designs are all about.

Decorating Tips for the Informal Family or Living Room

It’s common to find that most homes have both a formal living room and an informal family room or living room used primarily to watch TV, or as a play room for children.  Even though your informal living room is more of a casual environment – it doesn’t mean that the decor has to reflect that casualness. Giving this type of room a great interior design make-over can be fun. Decor ideas for a family room tend to be more relaxed and family friendly. Over sized couches make for comfortable seating, floor rugs add a touch of warmth if you have hardwood floors and entertainment units or shelving are great for keeping this organized.

When creating a design for your living room, keep in mind how the living room will be used. A living room with surround sound, for example, will require a particular design in order to get the full effect of that sound. Whether there is surround sound or no sound, a living room should be a room that creates a relaxing atmosphere in which one can read quietly, visit with friends, or any number of things in a comfortable manner.

Living Rooms

HGTV Green Home 2011About the Living Room:
Interior designer Linda Woodrum was first and foremost inspired by house planner Jack Thomasson's location announcement video. "There seemed to be this amazing amount of energy from the people he talked to," she says. Residents' love of the outdoors, Denver's bright sunny skies and the shade of carpet chosen for the space informed the room's color palette: an urban-chic mix of yellows and grays, with glass and metal adding the needed hint of sparkle. Contemporary furnishings and an oversized light fixture contribute to the home's downtown Denver, loft-like feel.
